Mainichi Newspaper Advertisement

Kirin Green Label

Below is my submission to the Mainichi Advertisement Design Competition (毎日広告デザイン賞) that I participated in back in 2016, for Kirin Green Label beer. The requirements for this particular brand were to express their core message of “feels good” in a newspaper advertisement through whatever means found applicable.
I took an “as intoxicating as the beginning of infatuation” approach, basing the design on a seemingly regular newspaper page that someone had scribbled all over with phrases and questions such as “wait, no, it can’t be that I like them…”,“Could I be in love?”, “I mean… I want to know what they’re thinking, what they’re feeling… I want to know it all!” Upon further inspection, you start to notice that even the printed headlines all point towards having a crush on a certain someone.
Although my attempt did not get picked, which is perfectly understandable, I appreciate the approach I took and the effort I put into this piece to this very day.
